BRÅKIG BY ARTREBELS - IN 20 NEW COUNTRIES
Great news! The BRÅKIG collection that ArtRebels designed in collaboration with IKEA is being released in 20 new countries during spring - from China to Jordan, all the way to Australia. After the success of the first release in several European countries, IKEA decided to bring the collection more global. ArtRebels couldn’t be more excited to see this cool collection from our creative colorful universe become accessible in new countries.
Just this last week the collection was released in Belgium, Spain, Japan and Portugal. Again we saw the BRÅKIG hashtag light up instagram with pictures of the collection adorning peoples homes.
In April we can look forward to seeing the BRÅKIG collection in Australia, Cyprus, Greece, Israel, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. Also in the Spring we’ll see the release in Tenerife, Hong Kong, Iceland, Jordan, Kuwait, Mallorca, and China. It’s a real honor for ArtRebels to have our collection become so global and to witness the success of this limited edition collection - the first of its kind for IKEA.
When ArtRebels was approached by IKEA in 2013 with the intention of getting inspired, founder and CEO Carla Cammilla Hjort jumped on the opportunity to pitch them a cool project idea. The idea was to create a line of limited edition products inspired by the ArtRebels universe; cool, young, colourful, fresh, with a taste of Trailerpark Music Festival. After a few days IKEA came back to ArtRebels ready to move forward with the proposed collaboration. Range Strategist at IKEA Karin Gustavsson explains, “We were already familiar with ArtRebels’ playful, colourful style, so when we were choosing a partner for this new collaboration, they were an obvious choice.”
Once the collaboration got underway, the ideas started to become reality. The development process was fun and exciting, which translated well into the products themselves, “The pieces in the range are smart, functional designs with a distinctly Danish feel. They provide an antidote to Scandinavia’s long, dark winter,” says Karin. “There are lots of pastel colours and light woods. These are happy pieces to brighten the mood!”
See how the products made it to store in this behind-the-scenes video, from the background research and inspiration to making the prototypes.
‘One of my favourite things is that we’ve updated small elements, but with a big impact,’ says Carla. ‘Like changing the legs of the trestle table to copper and making the tabletop thinner. It’s now lighter and sleeker – it works just as well either as a dining table or desk.’
BRÅKIG also features complete new and original designs like the BRÅKIG chair (495dkk). “I love this chair I think it’s really cool and I’m definitely going to get one of each color for my dinner table.”
Here at the ArtRebels office we are really proud of this collaboration and we are happy to say that we have other very exciting and fun projects on the way together with IKEA.
The resulting limited-edition collection is available in store only for a limited time. Don’t miss it – once it’s gone, it’s gone!
