FEATURED ARTIST - CLARA SELINA BACH
Clara has been working close with ArtRebels lately. We found her work and brought her into our network of artists, and now we've collaborated with her on multiple projects. The latest one is with Audiocase where she designed the surface around the case of their speaker. She showed at our gallery space this winter where she was featured as a solo artist and now we have booked her to be part of Trailerpark Festival. She will be participating there as a live artist, painting during the festival.
We had a chance to catch up with her and ask her about some of these projects she's done. She also picked some of her favorite prints from her ArtRebels shop. All of the work you buy from her ArtRebels shop comes directly from her.
WHERE ARE YOU FROM AND WHAT ARE YOU STUDYING?
I’m Copenhagen based and recently finished my bachelor degree in illustration and graphic design from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts School of Design. In September I’m continuing at the school with the master program.
HOW WAS IT TO CREATE THE COLLAB WITH AUDIOCASE?
I think it was interesting to do a collab with Audiocase - first of all because they are nice guys with a really cool product. Second of all because the subject was music which I think was a perfect excuse to work intuitively and playful with color and shape to represent the vibe I get from music. I chose to refer to the 80’s boom box as a tribute to the invention of the portable sound system and to remark how far technology has come with The Audiocase.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU AND YOUR ART?
My work is always centered about color and shape. I like to work in the mix of abstract and figurative, naive and expressive. I’m inspired by human relationships, pop culture, teenage and childhood memories. Some of my favorite artists are Jockum Nordström, Tal R, David Hockney and Henri Matisse. I like their use of color, compositions and their work with human culture in a beautiful, odd, observing, humorous/absurd way.
